Day 24/Day 25 - Inspired by a Movie/Fashion

Originally I was going to do Young Einstein nails (if you haven't seen that movie, go watch it now. Seriously. Do it.) but got randomly inspired by Toy Story 3. Not only does this fit for the movie nails, but also for fashion since it is based on Barbie and Ken's clothes in the movie. I'm only meshing these together because I accidentally skipped the movie day all together and didn't want to get too far out of order.

Here are some reference images

And the design

I am incredibly happy with the thumb and pinky, pretty satisfied with the pointer and ring, and baffled at the middle nail. No idea what happened there. There are some of the craziest air bubbles I have ever seen in there! O.o

Colors used include: For Audrey - China Glaze, How I Met Your Magenta - Wet N Wild, Mellow Yellow - Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, White On - Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, Flower Girl and Fashionista - Sinful Colors (stripers), and a generic blue that I found at Ross in a set.

What do you guys think? Probably going to do another design that features the leopard print again. I am apparently becoming obsessed with leopard print!

The Teal Sessions

I made this! Yes, me! Yay! I used some cheap polish that I had only planned on using for nail art and a few different glitters. This is the second franken I have created, the first shall be shown after I send it out to its new owner!

These pictures were taken using a cell phone camera because my camera hates teal. Obviously my camera has bad taste! So what do you guys think? You want to buy it, I know. ;)

On another note, I'm pretty spacey and apparently went out of order on my 30 day challenge (not that I've stuck to the timing at all anyway!) So I'm going to try to do both movie and fashion inspired nails tomorrow. It can happen!!

Thanks for reading!

Giveaway Winner!!!

Congrats entry #18 - Helen Tarason! You win! Yay! Helen has a lovely little blog that you can find right here!

If she doesn't respond within 48 hours, I'll pick someone else.

I didn't take screen shots because to be honest I had to do it a few times anyway. The first few people I picked didn't follow the rules so they were disqualified. Sorry!

Thank you for all of your entries :D

GIVEAWAY ENDING SOON!

In approximately 2 hours my giveaway will end! Have you entered?!

Clicky clicky!!

Note: I know I've been absent - and what shitty timing after gaining a lot of followers - I have just been SERIOUSLY lacking inspiration. I hope to get some awesome art done tonight, but in the meantime I have been creating some frankens! Ash over at ArtEvolve is forever creating the most bad ass frankens and she has inspired me to give it a go myself. One of them is a custom for a good friend of mine so I can't show that yet as even she hasn't seen it, but hopefully I'll get to post about some of them soon :)

Thanks for reading! And good luck to everyone! I am so grateful for all of you wonderful ladies (and gents)!

Day 23 - Inspired by a Book

My favorite book's theme seemed too complicated to put on nails, so I went with my favorite comic book instead.  BATMAN! Seriously who doesn't love Batman? Fools, that's who! This is the most freehand brush work I have ever attempted, so it's not perfect but I am mostly satisfied.

Pinky to thumb: Joker, Robin, Riddler, Alfred, Batman

Alfred's tie really hurts my brain when I look at it now. So crooked! I'm still reaalllllly enjoying this challenge as it is doing exactly that: Challenging me! Now to start planning tomorrow's nails... ^.^

Thank you for reading :)

I'm just going to list the colors because there were a few:
Xtreme Wear - Mellow Yellow
Zoya - Dove
China Glaze - Kiwi Coolada
Closet Red (A note of explanation about this - I found a set of insanely old nail polishes while home in PA that all apply awesomely but have no name on the bottle. They are named Old Closet Red, Brown, Gold, etc. now! Hah)
Sinful Colors - Let's Meet
Confetti - Belle of the Ball
O.P.I - Honk if You Love OPI
Black nail art striper

Day 22 - Inspired by a Song

I really love music. In fact, my blog is named after a type of music I love: Noise. Noise songs don't really inspire me to do any art that would look good on my nails, though, so I chose Strawberry Fields Forever by The Beatles.

This works for two reasons: This song is pure awesome, and I love doing strawberry nails.

It actually didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but it was my first try at painting actual strawberries, and I am by no means an actual artist, so I'm semi-satisfied.

The red is China Glaze - Winter Berry and the green is China Glaze - Holly-Day. The thumb and ring finger have a base of Sheer Nude by Revlon. I used nail art brushes for most of it and a tooth pick for the seeds. I realize they should have been yellow, but I felt it would look better black. I don't know. Hah
Still, practice makes at least semi-perfect so I may want to retry these soon!

I wanted to take a second to give some serious thanks for all the wonderful comments on both my giveaway post and my blog in general. As an amateur nail artist, it's very easy to get frustrated with yourself when you are constantly seeing so many amazing designs all over blogs and tumblrs. It's hard to measure up to those standards sometimes. But really those comments mean a lot, and I appreciate every single one of them more than I could possibly express here. I guess I'll just have to do lots of giveaways to show my gratitude ;)

Day 21 - Inspired by a Color

I was unsure as to what I was supposed to actually do for this, but I actually was inspired by a color. Gothic Lolita by China Glaze to be exact. I had seen it swatched before, but I really didn't expect it to be so freakin' pretty. I mean seriously, if you're a purple fan, you have to have this polish. It's just a lovely medium purple with the slightest pink shimmer. Really gorgeous. Purple inspired me so these nails are full of purple! I'd also like to dedicate this to Drinkcitra as she is a fellow purple enthusiast :)

The dots are made up of Kleancolor - Pastel Purple (lightest), Confetti - Belle of the Ball (second lightest), and Jordana - Hypnotizing. The accent finger is Honk if You Love OPI and that's also whats on the tips over Gothic Lolita.

I hope everyone has a lovely day!

Day 20 - Water Marble

All that can really be said about this attempt is: It didn't go as badly as I expected. I used only American Apparel - Army Jacket and China Glaze - Mahogany Magic. I added dots to cover up some weird spots. From a distance, it looks a lot cooler :)

I really love the color combination. I think the thing that hurt me the most was the sort of tooth pick I used for dragging. I have crappy squared tooth picks. They do not work well at all!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter (or just a nice Sunday!)

Day 19 - Galaxies

I've actually only done galaxy nails once before about a year ago. I was pretty impressed with myself but in truth they were pretty awful. These, I am pretty happy with!

Not bad, eh? Then I matted them!

Tomorrow is the dreaded water marble. I do not look forward to failing at that! >.<

I hope everyone has a lovely Easter weekend and thank you for reading :)

Day 18 - Half Moons

After a few days with extremely limited internet due to technical difficulties, I have some half moons for Day 18 of this challenge.

The pictures genuinely don't capture how cool it turned out. I had to use weird lighting to get the Nubar 2010 to show up at all against my naked nail. The blue is American Apparel - Mount Royal.

This is from yesterday, though, and I have a very awesome post for later today! I finally did some galaxy nails that I am super happy about :)
