Purple and teal glitter gradient

I am not the best with gradients. I can never seem to get the blending quite right and it usually looks somewhat off. This time, though, I think I did the best job I have ever done. I give all of the credit to Northern Lights though because is makes any nail art automatically fantastic.

I started with two coats of Northern Lights on a base-coated-only nail, sponged on some The Real Teal (Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear) and Hypnotize (Jordana), then proceeded to glitter the crap out of it with more Northern Lights, Techno (China Glaze), and Trust Fund Baby (Spoiled). The sun wasn't out in these photos so it's not nearly as glittery looking as it is in person :(

I was so happy with these that I kept them like that for nearly a week -- pretty rare for me to even have polish LAST that long!

Be a Dahlia Won't You? -- and do a sweet gradient

I took a break in between challenges and game up with what I think was a pretty wonderful gradient. I started with two coats of O.P.I. - Be a Dahlia Won't You? and then did tapering layers of with Petites - Craze. I do recommend enlarging these photos to see the true awesomeness.

Not being able to leave this alone, I added a few coats of Nubar - Black Polka Dot

Click to enlarge the last two or they just look weird

I'll be back to posting for the challenge later in the day! Thanks for reading :)

Day 10 - Gradient

I've always loved the idea of using black and another bright color in a gradient, so I had already decided to do that when I read that my beloved Hines Ward was retiring. As an extremely huge Steelers fan, I was devastated. I did this design in dedication to him and all that he has done for the black and gold!

I got this awesome pack of Steelers themed nail polishes at Fun Party Stores awhile back, so I used the yellow for the base. I then layered a couple of coats of Nubar - Black Polka Dot and finished off with black sponging.

Here is a random manicure I have also done using my Steelers nail art supplies:

I never posted it and forgot to transfer my photos when I came back from PA, so I only have a tiny cell phone picture.

Not only did Hines have an amazing career in the NFL, he had the privilege along with a few other players to be part of The Dark Knight Rises. You're the best Hines, and you will be forever missed!

Purple glittery goodness

In my time in Pennsylvania I made sure to hit up a few Dollar Generals because they have discounted Xtreme Wear polishes and there isn't a single one here in my area of California. Because of this I ended up with a ton of Xtreme Wear colors, but that's ok because they water marble really well, and I need all the help I can get in that department. This is Purple Potion. A shimmery purple with hints of blue all throughout. It didn't look that special in the bottle, but once I had it on I couldn't stop staring. Two coats is what you see here.

Then, of course, there had to be GLITTER. Rockstar Pink is another of the Xtreme Wears I picked up. This is the only thing I have done with it so far, but it's so damned pretty in the bottle I imagine it could really spice up a few manicures!

I was really just going for a light gradient and a little shine. I think this manicure accomplished both :)
