L.A. Colors - Flurry

Today's post features the lovely Suzi Says Feng Shui as underwear to a pretty glitter called Flurry. I didn't try Flurry by itself yet, but over this gorgeous blue it is pretty fantastic! The pictures show two coats of each polish plus a top coat.

There was slightly more sparkle to Flurry in the sunlight, but of course the sun remained hidden for my photos :|

All in all, A++ on both, would combine for awesome blue times again!

China Glaze Holos

I have heard a lot of bad things about China Glaze's Holographic Collection, and I heard it all after I had already picked up Galactic Gray and Infra-Red. I didn't find them to be as troublesome as I expected after reading some reviews, but they were certainly not a smooth, easy application.  However, the holo effect in Galactic Gray makes it worth the effort to me. The colors are so strong and vivid, even in regular lighting.

I'm a little less excited about Infra Red. In the sunlight it's pretty - and bright, but inside it's quite dull and boring. More of a dusty rose color than anything.

Most of the photos of Infra Red did nothing to show the holo-ness - these were the best I could do :\
These polishes, if nothing else, have made me realize that I definitely need more holographic polishes in my life! Perhaps a blue... a linear purple...light pink....hmmm haha

Sephora - Is She For Real? (Spoiler Alert: YES!)

Is She For Real? is my first Sephora polish, and I wasn't disappointed one bit by it! In regular light, the bottle just looks like a very pretty silver.. but then you notice all of the different colors of glitter.. and your mind is then blown. I'm really not even sure how to describe it exactly, so I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves. I advise clicking them to enlarge :)

A little bit blurry to show all the glitters!

My husband is actually the one that picked this out. Usually he does a pretty good job, and this time was no exception.

BIIGGGGG thanks to Kas from Varnished Valkyrie for the tips on making my photos appear bigger!

Orly - High on Hope

When I saw this polish at Sally's, I immediately knew I had to have it. I'd never quite seen anything like it before - lots of ooohhh's and aaahhhh's were had as I help up the bottle and rotated it in the light. It is my opinion that no photo of this polish does it any justice, but I will share my swatches anyway!

This is High on Hope in daylight, but not direct sunlight.

Very direct sunlight

These were all varying angles in the sun.

I wish I could get these photos to show up bigger on my page - does anyone have any info on this?

For some reason my middle finger went wacky and seemed to wrinkle a bit. Still, I really enjoyed wearing this polish. Application was a breeze. If blues are your thing, High on Hope will not disappoint you!

Purple and teal glitter gradient

I am not the best with gradients. I can never seem to get the blending quite right and it usually looks somewhat off. This time, though, I think I did the best job I have ever done. I give all of the credit to Northern Lights though because is makes any nail art automatically fantastic.

I started with two coats of Northern Lights on a base-coated-only nail, sponged on some The Real Teal (Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear) and Hypnotize (Jordana), then proceeded to glitter the crap out of it with more Northern Lights, Techno (China Glaze), and Trust Fund Baby (Spoiled). The sun wasn't out in these photos so it's not nearly as glittery looking as it is in person :(

I was so happy with these that I kept them like that for nearly a week -- pretty rare for me to even have polish LAST that long!

L.A. Girls 3D Effects - Purple Effect

I finally ended my search for a purple holo! *dance dance dance* Recently I stopped at a Rite Aid and sort of avoided looking too closely at the nail polish section (attempting a no-buy month!).. but the glittery, holo-y goodness of the 3D Effects display drew me right in! At only 4.99 a piece I couldn't really resist this beauty and quickly grabbed the Purple Effect!

Next time I wear it, I'll probably use some purple underwear for more opacity...but DAMMIT HOW PRETTY IS THIS?! I don't have many holos, so I'm not sure how the quality of this guy holds up comparatively, but I couldn't be happier. The pictures show two very easily applied coats (it's basically a jelly formula) and a top coat. The holo is even pretty holo-y indoors. Pretty exciting if you ask me!

I have returned! No, really this time!

I think my last post was something like... "I have returned!" Yeah. Not so much, eh? Well this time, I really can return! A ton of things contributed to my lack of posting, but mainly it was not being able to do my nails. I worked at an evil sandwich shop that did not allow ANYTHING on your nails *GASP!* It was pretty much the worst. My hands were constantly dry and disgusting looking from washing them so much (literally 20+ times a day), my cuticles were tearing, and my nails were short, frail, and pealing. I did get to do the occasional manicure, however. And that brings me to the second reason why there has been no posting even when I could do my nails: Craptastic internet service. All is well with that once again, though.

For this post, I just wanted to show one or two things I did and photographed but was never able to post.

And back when people still did the fishtail/braided thing...

As you can see my lighting situation isn't quite ideal. Working on it! And in the mean time, a sun shiny day is my best friend :)

Since having the internet back and being able to take care of my hands and nails again, I have been slapping paint on my nails as much as possible! I look forward to posting again and getting back in touch with all of the awesome blogs that were lost to me in the past 10 months. I have really missed the nail blogging community. It seems it has grown so much that I fear I can never catch up, but I accept the challenge!

Ladies First by SnailZ Lacquer (HOLY BALLS)

It's... a purple..jelly...flaky... franken! The lovely Ashesela over at Art Evolve is quite the frankenista (that is totally a word!) and I have been forever drooling over her creations. Luckily, Ash is quite generous and sent me one of her creations (Ladies First) as a wedding gift. I'm going to link her photos because they are a touch (ok a lot) better looking, but I couldn't not show you all of the glimmery, flaky wonder on my nails right now!

Two coats Ladies First, no undies!

I feel that this lighting and my poor photography skills actually showed off this polish pretty well. It truly does look like my nails are constantly lighting up and just shimmmmmmering! I can't wait to do more with this beauty - anyone have any suggestions? There is definitely some sort of sandwich in the future for Ladies First, but I'd love any other ideas!

Here are Ash's photos (She may have done more coats than me as hers turned out darker)

THANK YOU AGAIN ASH! YOU ARE LOVELY!
And thanks for reading :)
